Going Away Party at Beefy's

Mommy's sweet friend Wendy hosted a going away party for us at our favorite neighborhood hangout, Beefy's.  It was such a fun and special evening with our dear friends - and the Aggie cupcakes were the icing on the cake!

Peyton's friend JP made this book for Peyton.  It's called "The So-far Life Book of the Francis' and the Mooney's".  He wrote about many of the "adventures" we've shared.  It was precious!  And we're looking forward to adding many more pages to it in the years to come!

3rd Grade Awards

The 3rd Grade Awards Assembly was also held last Friday. Peyton scored big!  We are so proud of his hard work and accomplishments this year!

Reagan's Star Student Award

Last Friday, Reagan was presented with a Star Student Award at the morning assembly.  The Star Student is one of the top awards presented at our school!

Reagan just completed her third (and final) year of dance with Ms. Colleen.  Reagan has learned so much from this awesome teacher!  

Helicopter Visit

On the same day as our Josh Davis visit, the San Antonio Police department brought a helicopter to Specht as a surprise for the students.  The kids got to "tour" the helicopter and listened as the officers discussed how the helicopter is utilized in police business.  

The kids were able to watch as the helicopter lifted, circled the school several times, did a few maneuvers in the air and took off!  

Olympic Gold Medalist Comes to Specht

Each year, Specht Elementary hosts Olympic Swimming Gold Medalist Josh Davis as part of a reading rewards program.  This year, both Peyton and Reagan received reading awards presented by Josh Davis.

As one of their final studies and projects of the year, Peyton's GT class made models of DNA...

Snow Cones!

Reagan's Kindergarten was recently rewarded for being the grade level with the best behavior! They were treated to snow cones and blow-up slides!

New Toy at Grandma and Grandpa's House

The grandkids have a new toy at Grandma and Grandpa's house... In addition to the kid size John Deere tractor, they now have a kid size John Deere Gator.  They can ride these things for hours!

Peyton and Other Specht Students Recognized at School Board Meeting

After racing through the Specht Art Show, we raced to New Braunfels to the Support Service and Administration Building to attend another art show.  Peyton, along with nine other Specht students, had their art work selected to be displayed in the Support Services Building.  Three other elementary schools had student work on display as well.  

Each student was given a nice certificate.  Peyton's selection is the Picasso inspired self portrait above his head.  It will be on display in the Support Services Building until August.  

Following the viewing of the artwork, parents, students and guests were invited to attend the school board meeting in order for each student to be recognized in person.

Both Peyton and Reagan had art work displayed at our school's annual art showcase yesterday.

3-D Art - Reagan's class was given the choice to do a snowman or a caterpillar.  Reagan chose do the The Very Hungary Caterpillar. :)

Aliens at the Witte

For the past few months, we have been trying to make it to the Witte Museum's visiting exhibit Aliens and Asteroids.   Since the exhibit is leaving this weekend, I decided to surprise the kids by picking the up from school early today for a little field trip of our own!  This was the perfect afternoon to be at the museum - few visitors and great weather!  

 The kids could use controls to operate this mechanical, robotic arm to pick up different objects!  It was challenging!

After watching a video about how a parachute helped to land the Mars Rover, the kids were able to design and build their own parachutes and then let them fly in a wind tube.
