Peyton is extremely excited that he has his very first loose tooth! His bottom, left front tooth is getting very wiggly! He's a little concerned about the pain of the tooth coming out (and about having blood in his mouth), as much as we try to reassure him. He's also wondering where he will be and what he will be doing when it comes out. Of course, he also wants to know what will happen if he swallows it! Or if the Tooth Fairy will still come if he looses it!

Easter Weekend
We spent Easter weekend of 2011 in Pawnee. Peyton and Reagan went to Pawnee on Friday afternoon with Grandma, Grandpa, Brett and Stephanie. Dustin and I headed down on Saturday morning. Before we arrived, the kids had a full morning of kite flying, hair styling and exploring a bull-dozer and other big machinery. That afternoon, we set up a slip-n-slide in Grandma and Grandpa's yard and the kids had fun getting wet! And, of course, we dyed Easter Eggs!

That night, we enjoyed our homemade Easter meal (we had planned to eat out after church on Sunday) of ham, salads, green bean casserole, roles and (thanks to the marbleized eggs) deviled eggs. Then the kids went to bed... with visions of chocolate bunnies dancing in their heads... (but not before Reagan asked how the Easter bunny was going to get to Grandma and Grandpa's house.... since he's not so fortunate to have a sleigh and reindeer like Santa)
The kids awoke - very early - to find that the Easter Bunny had come (mode of transportation still unknown but didn't really matter at the moment!). Peyton found a Leap Frog "Math Circus" dvd in his Easter basket, something he has been wanting for months. "But HOW did the Easter Bunny KNOW that I really wanted it?" he asked.
We ate breakfast, dressed for church and then went outside to take pictures.
After church and lunch, we came back home to start the egg hunt!
When the Easter Bunny comes to Grandma and Grandpa's house, he hides eggs with MONEY in them (2 coins in each egg!)! The kids loved it!

After the big egg hunt, the kids spent more time on the slip n slide. Then it was time to pack up and head back to San Antonio.
Also, on this trip, Comet met his "cousin" O'Reilly for the first time. Since each cat is an "only cat", we were curious to see how they would get along. The result? When the cats would occasionally meet in a room, they would just stare and growl at each other. One cat would finally just give up and walk away. Obviously, neither cat really wanted a battle! As for Bob the greyhound, he ignored both cats and both cats ignored him.
One of Peyton's current interests is washing machines and trying to figure out how they work. Peyton loves Grandma and Grandpa top-loading machine and always requests to wash clothes whenever he is there. Grandma is happy to oblige and provides Peyton with plenty of laundry. There is rarely any dirty laundry left in the house by the time we leave!
Throughout the weekend, Peyton would walk up to Stephanie and gently touch her tummy. When we finally asked him about it, he said, "because there's a baby in there!" Then he blew the sweetness of the moment by asking, "Mommy, when I was inside your tummy, did you get big and fat, too?"

Easter Egg Hunting
This afternoon we went to a community cookout and Easter Egg hunt at a church here in our neighborhood. Many of our neighbors and several of Peyton's classmates were there.
The kids were divided according to age groups. I took Peyton to the Kindergarten area, and Daddy went with Reagan to the preschool area.

Our First Rose!
A couple of months ago, our next-door neighbor (who has beautiful rose bushes!) brought us several cuttings from his bushes after trimming them back. He helped Dustin plant them behind our house. They have finally started growing, and now we have our first rose!
Valero Texas Open
This afternoon Daddy and Peyton went to the Valero Texas Open (Peyton's first PGA event!) It was held at the TPC San Antonio at the JW Marriott Resort, a course just a few minutes from our house! Dustin and Peyton took this picture at the entrance to the course, which was set up like a Valero station! They spent a couple of hours drinking Icees, walking the course, watching a few holes and playing on a playground they found. On the very first hole they watched, a player accidentally hit the ball into the crowd. It flew just a foot above Peyton's head and actually hit the guy next to him! (He wasn't hurt and Peyton, fortunately, wasn't aware of how close the ball come to him!) Daddy and Peyton finally left after watching the leaders play through the 13th hole. Daddy was definitely more "into" the tournament than Peyton, but they both had a great boys outing!

Random
On one recent morning, I headed to Peyton's room at 6:30am to wake him up to get ready for school. His door was still closed, but I noticed that his lamp light was shining under the door. When I opened the door, I was met with the sweetest scene. Peyton was laying in his bed quietly "reading" his Veggie Tales devotional book, and Comet was curled up in bed with him! I didn't get to take a digital picture of it, but I do have a super sweet mental picture of the scene!

On Tuesday evening, I sent Dustin to Target on and errand. While he was there, he saw someone walking toward him that he knew he should recognize but couldn't quite place. Suddenly, he realized that the person in front of him was pro golfer Justin Leonard. He was stumped for a second trying to figure out what Justin Leonard would be doing in a San Antonio Target, but then he realized that he must be in town for the Valero Texas Open this weekend. Dustin decided to not be "that guy" who strikes up conversations with celebrities in public places, so he just let him walk by. But he was still excited about the "sighting"!

After watching them hatch on Tuesday and Wednesday, Peyton's class now has 10 baby chicks! Yesterday after school, Mrs. Hendry offered to let Peyton take Reagan into the classroom to show them to her. All ten chicks were in a clear plastic container with cedar shavings, water and food. They were adorable! Both kids kept saying, "They're soooo cuuuute!" Mrs. Hendry even took one chick out and let the kids pet it on the head, but she made Peyton promise to not tell his friends that he got to do that! (For the survival of the chicks, she had to make a class rule that the chicks could not be touched by any of the 24 little, excited Kindergartners!) Tomorrow, the chicks will all go back to the county extension service, and, hopefully, to a good home on a farm!
Kindergarten Music Program
Our second stop for tonight was the PTA meeting and Kindergarten Music Program at Specht. The Kindergartners performed songs they have been singing in their music class throughout the year. Here are a few pictures of Peyton and his classmates performing:

The very first song they performed - "Good Morning" by Gregg & Steve - brought back memories me! It was the very same song we used to use in our end of the year program when I taught Kindergarten. It was so sweet to watch my very own Kindergartner singing it now!
Daddy videoed the entire program, and Peyton insisted on watching himself as soon as we got home!
Reagan's Art Festival
Tonight, Reagan's preschool hosted a family pizza dinner and art festival. Reagan's class showcased the Texas flags they painted last month.

Peyton's Solar System
Here is a diagram of the solar system which Peyton drew this morning. He labeled each planet with it's first initial. He continues to claim Pluto as the smallest planet! The squiggly circles below the planets are asteroids. On the way to church this morning, Peyton had me goggling the amount of time it takes each planet to orbit the sun, except for Earth. "Because," he said, "We already know that one. It's 365 days." His love for outer space definitely continues to grow!
Comet's Lookout Post
If you look at the top of the picture, near the ceiling, you will see Comet. He jumps from the 2nd floor landing to the banister (which is about 6 inches wide) and then to the top of the armoire. This is one of his favorite hangout spots - it's probably the highest point in our house that is accessible to him! To get down, he jumps from the top of the armoire to the floor.
rWalk-a-thon and Carnival
Peyton had to leave his soccer game a little early to make it to the Specht PTA Walk-a-thon by 10 am. He was not very happy to leave the game, especially after scoring a goal. "But I don't want to go to the carnival at all! I'll just go home!" he said. I mentioned a few of the super-fun booths and activities that were going to be at the carnival (which followed the walk-a-thon), like the bounce houses and foam pit. "Well, maybe I can go to the carnival for a little while," he finally agreed!
Grandpa and Peyton started the walk-a-thon while Reagan and Mommy helped with final touches for the carnival. Daddy had to finish coaching the soccer games, so he came later. Towards the end of the walk-a-thon, Grandma, Daddy and Reagan walked with Peyton.
Finally, it was time for the carnival to begin! All the walking made Peyton and Reagan thirsty, so they insisted on having a snow cone first. Then Peyton decided to try the hamster ball and Mommy thought it was a good idea that he did that activity before lunch!

Mrs. Hendry invited Grandma, Grandpa, Peyton and Reagan into their classroom to see the eggs. Peyton's class is hatching chicks in an incubator. They are due to hatch on Tuesday. Grandpa and Grandma enjoyed a tour of Peyton's classroom as well!
