Comments

Reagan: "I don't understand it, Mommy! I tried to put my barrette on Comet, but he just scratched at me. I wasn't trying to play with him. I just wanted him to wear my barrette!"

Conversations between Reagan and our dentist:
Dr. Beckel: "How old are you now Reagan?"
Reagan: "Four."
Dr. Beckel: "When did you turn four?"
Reagan (most matter-of-factly): "On my birthday."
Dr. Beckel (chuckling): "Well, I guess you did!"

Peyton (referring to eating healthy): "How come things that don't taste good are important to eat?"

Peyton: "Mommy, when did you get married?"
Mommy: "Almost 12 years ago."
Peyton: "Then what did you become?"

Reagan: "Mommy, I bit my lip."
Mommy: "Let me kiss it and it will feel better."
Reagan: "No. I want cake. Cake will make it feel better."
Mommy: "You can have yogurt, not cake."
Reagan: "But yogurt won't make it better! Just cake will!"

Reagan (after watching a commercial for Schlitterbaun): "Oohhh! I want to go to Schlitter-fun!"

Reagan: "My foot is... is.... is.... (pause) sprinkle-y."
Daddy: "Do you mean your foot went to sleep?"
Reagan: "Yes."
A few moments later...
Reagan: "Ohhh! It's not waking up!"

Peyton: "Is a 'bit' bigger than a 'little bit'?"

Daddy: "Peyton, what time did you wake up this morning?"
Peyton: "6:37-ish"

First Dance Class

In addition to soccer, Reagan has also started taking dance classes this Fall.  Her first class was Monday morning.  She is taking classes offered through the Hermann Sons organization in Bulverde, whose dance instructor has been highly recommended in this area.  Reagan's class includes tap, ballet and a bit of tumbling.  She really enjoyed her first class, but, she was a bit disappointed that she actually had to follow the teachers instructions instead of just doing her own dancing!  She was a still a great participant and did really well.  She is definitely looking forward to going back next week!

Playdate

A friend of mine and soon-to-be-photography-business-owner (Pilcher Photography) took some pictures of Reagan playing at her house on Friday with her son and put together a couple of collages.  They're adorable!

Reagan's First Soccer Practice

Reagan's officially a soccer player!  Her first team practice was this morning.  Her team is the "Sharks", which just happened to be the name of Peyton's first two teams (Blue Sharks and Tiger Sharks).  Just can't get enough Shark soccer!

Listening to their coach.  There are eight kids on Reagan's team.  Three girls and five boys.

Peyton's School Remembers 9/11

On Friday, Peyton's school had a short outdoor assembly to remember the events of 9/11.  For many of the students, including Peyton, this was their first exposure to information regarding that day.  The principal and Peyton's teacher did a beautiful job of explaining 9/11 in ways the children could understand and process.  Each student was able to put several flags in the ground, each flag representing a life that was lost on 9/11.  Peyton said he put four flags in.

(On a lighter note, it has been so hot and dry here this summer that the ground had to be watered for an entire week in order to be soft enough for the students to put the flags far enough down so that they wouldn't blow over!)

Reagan's 1st Day of Preschool

Today was Reagan's first day of preschool for this year.  She was more than excited and more than ready to go this morning!

Labor Day Weekend

We spent Labor Day Weekend 2011 in Pawnee at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  The four of us (five, counting Comet!) traveled to Pawnee on Friday afternoon, after school and work.  After unloading the car and getting settled in for the weekend, Peyton, Daddy, and Grandpa then drove back to San Antonio on Saturday morning to attend the first ever UTSA football game, held in the Alamodome.  It was Peyton's first trip to the Alamodome, and he's already asking if we can go back there every weekend!  They met up with Brett, ate lunch at Two Brothers BBQ, and then went to the game, along with 57,000 other fans.  Not too bad for an inaugural game!

Eating ice cream and watching the cars go by on 281.

And UTSA won!  Late that afternoon, all the boys, Stephanie and Gregory, headed to Pawnee - Gregory's first trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house! While the boys were at the football game, Reagan, Mommy and Grandma did a little bit of shopping in Beeville.

On Sunday, the four of us, Grandpa, Stephanie, and Gregory went to church - Gregory's first visit to First Baptist Beeville.  Then we met up with Grandma and Brett and Dairy Queen - Gregory's first traditional Sunday Dairy Queen lunch with all of us, the McKays and the Cullis.

On Sunday evening, Jackie, Georgia and Lasca came over to have dinner and meet Gregory.  We grilled fajitas and had a little celebration for Grandma and Grandpa's 46th anniversary.  We had a great visit, and we all enjoyed watching the Aggies win over SMU in the opening game of our final season in the Big 12!

We spent most of Monday in Pawnee.  The "big boys" did some work in one of the barns for most of the day.  It was a great day to be outside!  The 100+ temperatures were finally broken by a cold front, and it was finally actually tolerable to be outside for an extended period of time.  After lunch, Peyton and Reagan we allowed to "help", but they mostly enjoyed riding around with Grandpa on the tractor, the Ranger and in the truck!

Before heading back to San Antonio, we celebrated Grandpa's birthday a couple of days early.  We also took a few "tractor" pictures of the kids in the really cute John Deere shirts Grandpa had made for all the grand kids.

Meet the Teacher for Reagan's Preschool

Tonight was Meet the Teacher night at Reagan's preschool, Child's Morning Out at Bulverde United Methodist Church.  Reagan's teacher for this year will be Ms. Dana.  Reagan already knows several kids in her class, including a few friends from our neighborhood.   She will go to school every Tuesday and Thursday again this year, starting next Tuesday.

Reagan's teacher designed a scavenger hunt for the students to complete with their parents.  They had to find their cubby, name tag, book center, bathroom and trashcan.
