SA Stock Show and Rodeo
On Friday, February 24, we all went to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo (well, the stock show anyway!). The kids loved the animals, and we watched a horse show for a while. Of course, we couldn't leave without cotton candy! Surprisingly, though, the kids were actually NOT interested in the carnival this year! Since it was dollar days, we had decided to let them ride a few rides, but they said they didn't want to - and we didn't insist! :)

Half-time Activities
During each basketball game halftime, there is always an activity and devotional for the kids. Earlier in the season, Dustin was chosen to participate in the halftime activities, and this week, Peyton was selected! His objective was to roll a basketball in a straight line to go between his teammates legs. He did really great and had a great time!

Preschool Stock Show
Reagan's preschool hosted their very own stock show and rodeo. Reagan took her little lamp as her "show animal." The kids dressed up their western wear and had a fun day! The kids below are friends in our neighborhood who we carpool with to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Valentine's 2012
Our 2012 Valentine's Day was the sweetest Valentine's Day yet... At bedtime the night before, Peyton decided that he was ready to ask Jesus into his heart. We were reading from his storybook Bible about John the Baptist, and Peyton declared that he wanted to be baptized. We questioned him on what he needs to do before baptism, and he demonstrated a sincere desire to want Jesus in his heart. So he prayed with Dustin and I (Peyton worded the prayer himself), admitting that he knows he is a sinner, wants to be forgiven for his sins, and asked Jesus to be with him forever. Obviously, it was a very special evening for us all, and the perfect way to start celebrating Valentine's Day! We haven't decided exactly when he will be baptized yet. We still want Peyton to go through a couple of kids curriculums before.
The kids had their usual Valentine's activities at school. They had fun going through their "loot" that afternoon. Peyton had basketball practice that evening, and we ended the special day dinner at Chili's (and even splurged on a Chocolate Molton Cake!)

Just Couldn't Stay Awake Any Longer....
On a somewhat related note... Each Sunday in Kids Zone, the kids can write down a prayer request or praise and then place it in a box during large group worship time. Peyton's prayer today was "Dear God, Are there people living on other planets in other solar systems?"

Comments of the Week
Peyton: "Can I have my super hero now? I mean, 'my sopapilla now?'"
PTA Meeting Pledge
The Specht PTA Spaghetti Dinner and Sock Hop was held last night, along with a short PTA meeting. Each PTA meeting starts off with the Pledge of Allegiance, Pledge to the Texas flag and a moment of silence. Peyton LOVES to talk into the microphone, so he asked the PTA president if he could help with the pledges. She said yes (a couple of other kids wanted to help too). Peyton actually helped with a pledge last year, too, and he was really excited to get to do it again. He did a great job asking the audience to please put their right hand on their heart, be seated, etc.!

A Visit from Granmommy & Grandaddy
Last weekend, Granmommy and Grandaddy came to San Antonio for a visit. They got in late Friday night, after the kids were already asleep. On Saturday morning, the kids woke up very early in order to welcome Granmommy and Grandaddy! :) We spent a quiet morning at home. Brett, Stephanie and Gregory came over for lunch. Gregory is sitting up now and he and Reagan enjoying playing together for a while!
That afternoon, Peyton had a basketball game. We had fun cheering him and his team on!
Weekend Trip to Pawnee & Beeville
On the evening of Friday, January 20 we headed to Pawnee for the night. Grandma and Grandpa had been in San Antonio all day, so we were able to have dinner with them and then follow them home. Both kids happily ditched the opportunity to ride with Mommy and Daddy and jumped in the car with Grandma and Grandpa. We spent a quiet Saturday morning and most of the afternoon at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Peyton helped Grandpa feed the cows. Later that afternoon we headed to Beeville for a cousin's birthday party. We all had a wonderful time visiting and playing!
