Peyton: "I want to run away... I want to run away from sin."

A Sign of Trouble Ahead...

Last night our 19 month old daughter decided to take her toy cell phone to bed with her. She had been "talking" on it for most of the evening. Dustin tried and tried to take it away before bedtime, only to be met with intense protest! So he gave in and Reagan slept with her phone last night. Forget stuffed animals - our daughter now sleeps with her cell phone!

Peyton's First Concert

Dustin took Peyton to his first concert tonight. The Christian group Avalon was playing at our church. Peyton loved the big light show at the beginning. He also really loved the music and excitedly participated as an audience member - he clapped to the beat and clapped at the end of songs.

Granmommy & Grandaddy's Visit

Granmommy and Grandaddy came into town on Friday afternoon and stayed for the weekend. After they arrived on Friday, we played at home while waiting for Dustin to get home from work. Then we went out to dinner at Spring Creek BBQ. On Saturday morning , Grandaddy had a conference to do, so Dustin, Peyton, and Reagan went to the hotel to play and pick up Granmommy. The sliding closet doors in their hotel room are always a big hit with Peyton. At lunchtime, we met GranGran and PePa in Farmersville and had a lovely lunch and fun time walking around the downtown square. Granmommy and Grandaddy stayed with the kids Saturday night, so Mommy and Daddy could have a date. On Sunday, we all went to church and ate at Tin Star. Sunday afternoon brought naps (or sort-of naps!) and more playing at home. Then we sadly saw Granmommy and Grandaddy off to the airport. A short, but always special visit came to an end.

Peyton the Soccer Player

Peyton officially kicked off his soccer career last Thursday at a 5:30 practice. He is playing through the McKinney Soccer Association. He plays on a 5 and under team with 5 other teammates. Dustin is one of the assistant coaches, so he gets to be out on the field with the players during practices. Peyton did pretty good for his first practice! He can kick the ball fairly well for a first-timer! "Coach Brian" has the kids sit on their balls when they need to "huddle up". Peyton thought that was really cool. He is so excited about playing soccer! He loves his shoes, shin guards, and socks! They will get their navy blue uniforms soon. The team name is still TBD.

Comment of the Week

Peyton: "We can't see inside of us."
Mommy: "Why can't we?"
Peyton: "We're covered up... God paints us different colors."

"Shhh! Bunny is sleeping."

Peyton got Bunny settled into his basket tonight. Then he tip-toed around the house saying, "Shhh! Bunny is sleeping."

Valentine's Day Fun

Valentine's Day began with pink incing covered cinnamon rolls for breakfast. The kids then played with Daddy for most of the morning while Mommy tried to get a few things done around the house.

This afternoon, Peyton and Mommy went to a friend's birthday party at Amazing Jake's (a huge indoor amusement park). Peyton loved riding the airplanes and the little train. He also got to bowl and ride a go-kart with Mommy driving. Reagan stayed at home with Daddy and napped (while Daddy finished doing to taxes).

This evening, Peyton and Reagan got to go to Adventure Kids and Mommy and Daddy got to go to Salt Grass. Adventure Kids is always a hit with Peyton! Reagan loves being there as long as she has her beloved Taggie!

Donuts with Dad

Today was Donuts with Dad at school. Dustin got to spend a few minutes with Reagan in her classroom as she chowed down on donut holes. Reagan gave him a giant cardboard tie that she fingerpainted. It had a picture on it of her and Dustin. She also made him a Valentines picture with pink foot prints. Then Dustin headed to Peyton's room. Peyton was waiting for Daddy with two glazed donuts and orange juice. Peyton made Dustin and card and the teachers interviewed Peyton about Daddy and wrote his answers down. Peyton also drew a picture of Dustin, and he was very proud of the long black hair he drew on Daddy's head. "Daddy has long hair," he told me several times with a grin.

Peyton's class Valentine's party was this afternoon. The kids got to decorate a heart cookie, play Valentine's bingo, and go through their Valentine bags. Peyton's favorite treat was a box of Nerds. (Peyton wrote his own name on all his Valentine cards this year - it only took us 5 days to do them all!) By the way, the band-aid on his ear has nothing to do with an injury. This morning, he insisted to Dustin the he had a cut on his ear that needed a band-aid. Since arguing against band-aids with Peyton is pointless, Dustin let him decorate his ear with one. The invisible injury has gotten a lot of attention today!

After school we went to a friend's neighborhood park to ride bikes. The trail was slightly hilly. Peyton decided that going downhill makes him go too fast and he might crash. So everytime Peyton's bike would start to go a little fast, Peyton would jump off (while the bike was still going!) and would let the bike continue on it own down the hill while chasing after it. Of course the bike would veer off the trail and crash in the grass. It was a long ride.... After the bike ride, we played on the playground. On part of the playground, there was a "monkey bar" ladder. It started in the ground a few feet out from the slide platform, curved up and then back down where it connedted to the platform. Peyton tried and tried and tried to firgure out how to crawl over the curved part and onto the platform. He really worked and consentrated so hard. Finally, he got the moves figured out. He was so proud of himself! He had a huge smile on his face as he told me, "Mommy, I did it all by myself! I learned how to!" A few minutes later, after we left the park and met Dustin, the first thing he told Dustin was, "Daddy I climbed over the monkey bars by myself!"

Reagan the Climber

Reagan can climb up just about anything in our house now. She can climb onto the bench and then on top of the table. She can climb onto the ottoman. She can climb onto Peyton's bed. She can climb over the side of the garden tub in our bathroom and turn the water on! She can climb onto the coffee table. She can climb onto the office chair and then onto the desk. She's very proud of her new ability!

Peyton's "Mommy Date"

As Peyton's reward for earning stickers at school, he got to go out on a "date" with Mommy tonight after dinner. Just Peyton and Mommy.... We went to Baskin Robbins and had ice cream. He was really sweet the whole time. In the car on the way there and at Baskin Robbins, he kept saying, "We're on a Mommy Date" and he would smile so big! By the way, Peyton enjoyed a huge scoop of "Icing on the Cake" ice cream in a cone. He ate every last drop! Mommy had a small scoop of low-fat chocolate in a cup, and ate every last drop as well! :)

Happy Birthday Blue Bear!

Peyton decided that Monday was Blue Bear's birthday. He decided that we should have a cake for Blue bear. So after school, we stopped at Wal Mart and bought Blue Bear a little cake. At first Peyton said that Blue Bear was 7. Then he said, "Actually, he's 2." Peyton sang Happy Birthday to Blue Bear and blew out the candles. Then Peyton and Reagan got to enjoy a piece of cake.
