Field Day

The final day of school was also Field Day at Specht.  And it was an awesome Field Day - one of the best ever!  The kids, teachers and many parents made a sea of red in our Field Day t-shirts.  In addition to fun games and water slides, the kids also enjoyed snow cones, popcorn and a hot dog lunch.  After hours of fun,  the tear shedding began as Peyton said good-bye to his sweet teacher Mrs. Patton (saying good-bye to our wonderful teachers is getting harder and harder every year!) and walked out of school for the final time as a 2nd Grader.

On Wednesday of the last week of school, the K-2 awards ceremony was held in the cafeteria.  Peyton received three awards:
All-A Honor Roll
Excellent Conduct (his teacher only gave out 2 of these - out of 22 kids - and Peyton was one of them!)
All-Star Award (the award every Specht Star recieves)

Way to go Peyton!  We are so proud of your accomplishments as a 2nd Grader!

Dance Festival

The final week of school was kicked off with Specht's Annual Dance Festival!  Each year, each class chooses a dance to perform and practices in the weeks prior to the festival.  This year, Peyton's teacher held a class meeting to decide on their dance. Peyton suggested "The Gummy Bear Song" and, according to his teacher, met with instant unanimous approval!  They danced to the Just Dance version, and Mrs. Patton e-mailed a youTube link so that the kids could practice at home.  Reagan loved practicing with Peyton every day!  At school, the kids made gummy bear masks.  On the day of the dance festival, Peyton woke up with a slight fever, 100.7, but too high for school.  He was sooooooo disappointed at the thought of not being able to do the dance with his class, that I decided to take him to school as keep him with me just until his class's performance was over.  The dance festival is held outside, and Peyton had no other symptoms of anything going on, so I figured we were in the clear to do at least that!  After all, he deserved to see his idea and suggestion play out!  Peyton excited performed the routine with his class and then we dashed back home to take it easy the rest of the day.

Ear Piercing Time!

We waited until Saturday to get Reagan's ears pierced so (1) Peyton could go and (2) so that our local Clair's would have two associates working who could pierce both early simultaneously.

Excited that it's finally about to happen...

Growing curious as the associate begins setting out the necessary items.

Hair pinned back, dots marked.

Almost time...

Ouch!  But no tears!

Admiring her new look in the mirrors!

 I have pierced ears now!

Reagan has been very responsible with her newly pierced ears.  She has been cleaning them gently three times each day with the provided solution.  She loves sparkly pink flower earring studs, but she is looking forward to wearing different little earrings in a couple of months, just around her birthday!

In a time span of three days, Reagan graduated from preschool, lost her first tooth and got her ears pierced.  It's almost like she went from being a little girl to a big girl overnight!

Playing in the Rain

Reagan and her friend Elise playing outside in the rain.

"Gone Tooth"

Reagan's bottom left tooth has been wiggly for several weeks now.  At breakfast on the morning following her preschool graduation day, Reagan calmly and confidently pinched it and pulled it out!  Continuing with breakfast with interesting for Reagan, as it "feels weird to chew now"!  We talked about the fact that Reagan was going to get to use her tooth fairy pillow that night and wondered what the tooth fairy might bring.  We reminded Reagan that the tooth fairy brings Peyton $1.  "Well," Reagan said, "I kind of don't want a dollar.  I want one hundred cents."  After stifling a laugh, we explained that a dollar and one hundred cents were the same thing.  "Okay," Reagan admitted, "then I would like $1."  She has made a few conversations with others about her "gone tooth" (her name for it now) very interesting as she is asked what the tooth fairy brought and confuses dollars and cents in her response.  Eyes get very wide at "$100", and Mommy has to quickly explain the difference and assure our friends that we are not "those" parents! :)

Reagan's Graduation Present

Due to back to back to back to back activities on the day of Reagan's preschool graduation, we didn't give Reagan's graduation gift to her until later that evening.  Reagan has been wanting for months to get her ears pierced, so we decided to make that wish come true as her preschool graduation gift.  I bought a cute pair of pierced earrings for her to open.  Below are the pictures of her reaction as she realizes that she is actually going to be getting her ears pierced!

One very happy girl!

Peyton's Soccer Party

So following Reagan's graduation, the graduation lunch, an afternoon meeting at school, and dance class, we headed back to Beefy's (2nd time that day, 3rd time in 48 hours!) for Peyton's soccer party.

Not sure what she is doing...  looks like prayer hands... cute!

As the assistant director called out each child's name to be presented with their diploma, she also read what that child wants to be when he/she grows up.  She misread Reagan's future career choice as "doctor".  This picture is of Reagan politely pointing out to her that that wasn't her... Reagan desires to someday be a "delivery girl." :)

And just like that...  after two kids and 10 combined years of preschool, we no longer have a preschooler in our family.  We have been so blessed to have been a part of several wonderful preschool families along the way - the best there are!  We have loved each and every one of our teachers dearly!  I'm intentionally not adding up what we have spent in tuition over these 10 combined years, but it was been worth every penny!  It goes by WAY too fast... :(
