Thanksgiving Dinner by Reagan

Here is another writing sample Reagan brought home from school recently...

"For Thanksgiving dinner I want to eat a turkey and green beans and mashed potatoes and a pie and salad."

Notice that the turkey on the table still has feathers... :)

Thanksgiving

We enjoyed a very fun and leisurely Thanksgiving day at Grandma and Grandpa's house!

Wildlife

This buck has recently made himself at home in our front yard.  He's usually out there (and in our neighbors yards, too) in the mornings.  These pictures were taken about 9 am.  We see deer daily behind our house, but rarely do we see them in the front!  

Kid Komments

Peyton: "Are dreams just entertainment for your brain while you are asleep?"

Reagan: "Mommy, in the future, you're going to be older than you really are."

Mommy: "What do you mean?"

Reagan: "Well, someday, when you're older, you'll be a grandma, and, someday, when I'll older, I'm going to be a mommy."

Peyton: "Mommy, when I was born was it like old times or today?"

Mommy: "It was like today."

Peyton: "But there weren't iPhones then! Or Minecraft!"

Reagan: "Or stores!"

Peyton: "If Reagan doesn't get out of my way, she's on her way out of here!"

Peyton: "It's Reagan's second day of Elementary School ever."

Reagan: "Ohhhhhh! Does that mean I HAVE to take pictures again?"

Peyton: "What's the opposite of 'hugs and kisses'?... Toots and burps?"

Peyton: "Is the AT&T Center going to blow up because it's the A 'TnT' Center?"

Peyton (during hour 3 of a 4 hour shopping/errands trip with Mommy): "If I had a dream that ALL the stores closed, that would be the best dream ever."

Reagan (listening to a conversation between Mommy and Daddy about the Spurs playing against Miami): "But who is YOUR-ami?

Reagan's Thankful List

Reagan wrote a "Thankful List" at school...

"I am thankful for my cat and my family and the food that I eat and my home that I live in and the water that I drink."

Turkey Cupcakes

One Sunday before Thanksgiving, we hosted our Life Group for Sunday lunch.  The kids had fun making turkey cupcakes (and other interesting creations!) with their friends!

Fun Run

Specht's annual Fun Run was on Thursday, November 14 - the first REALLY cold day of the year!  The cold didn't bother the kids, though!  They just bundled up and had a blast!  Both Peyton and Reagan said that Fun Run day was their favorite day of the school year!

Both kids ran the expected 36 laps (and a little more!) - which equaled over 2 miles for both kids!  Peyton paced himself and ran at a very steady speed.  Reagan alternated between bursts of speed and a slow jog/walk.  Mommy got to run some with both kids!  

Reagan's Writing

Reagan's class does a lot of writing.  It's always amusing to read what she brings home almost daily!  Here is a sample of some sentences she wrote using some vocabulary words.  She doesn't let writing big words intimidate her... she just sounds it out and write down what she thinks!

"I was drawing a picture with a pen.  Well, my brother was doing a puzzle.  I was laying on my bed with my cozy pillow.  One morning, I got pie.  One Halloween, I made a jack-o-lantern.  A mouse was in my house."

Peyton's Favorite Memory

Peyton's class was recently given an assignment to write about a favorite memory.  Peyton chose his Minecraft birthday party...

Reagan's 2nd "Gone Tooth"

On Saturday, November 9, Reagan lost her second tooth.  She had been working on it for days, and finally pulled it out while we were in the car!  Since we were going to Grandma and Grandpa's house to spend the night, she left the following note for the tooth fairy...

"I am at my Grandma's house.  I love you tooth fairy."

Birthday Party

Peyton and Reagan recently went to friend Joey's birthday party...  a Game Truck party!  They couldn't have been more excited!

First Aggie Football Game!

Last Saturday, we went back to College Station to watch A&M play UTEP.  It was the kids first Aggie football experience!  We arrived in College Station around 4:00 and had about 4 hours to kill before the 8:00p kick-off.  There was plenty to see and do on campus to make our wait time so fun!  We took a stroll across campus, played on Simpson Drill Field a bit, wandered around the MSC, shopped in the bookstore, ate dinner from a vendor booth on "restaurant row" and basically just had fun hanging out with thousands of other maroon clad fans!

Reveille!

A Corp unit.  Listening to the unique clink of the spurs and the taps of the shoes on the concrete brought back many memories from college days!

Finally in our seats....  3rd Deck - 2nd row from the top!  Before our trip, we read a few of our children's Aggie books to the kids.  One book was specifically about a family's football weekend experience, including Midnight Yell (which we did not attend this trip).  Apparently, Midnight Yell was the most impressive thing about the book, and Reagan, since the game started so late, thought we were actually at Midnight Yell!  She kept commenting on how "I LOVE Midnight Yell!"  Every time we would try to correct her, she would just look at us skeptically!

Kick off time was Reagan's usual bed time!  She made it a few minutes into the first quarter before curling up under her blanket and falling fast asleep!  We did wake her up for the band at halftime! 

"Now forming at the North end of Kyle Field..."

By the 3rd quarter, we were cold, the kids were tired, we had a very safe lead over UTEP and home was still 3 hours away, so we decided it was time to say good-bye to Kyle Field.  On the way out we passed by the cannon.  

Peyton's been telling everyone that his favorite part of the game was the band... and every one who's been to an Aggie game readily agrees!  Reagan's favorite part of the game was "the yells"!
