More Peyton Comments....

Yesterday, as we drove past Wal Mart, Peyton said, "I need to go get a couple of things at Wal Mart." When I asked him what he needed to get, he said, "I just need to get a couple of things for my birthday."

He is really into playing with tinker toys lately. He calls them "stinker toys". Yesterday, he and Dustin built a really elaborate elevator. Today, Peyton wanted to make a dog house. Then he wanted to make an elevator for the dog house.

Reagan's News

Reagan's first top tooth is starting to poke through. So far, we can only see the left one. Yesterday, I timed her standing by herself. She stood for a full ten seconds! She also loves to wave bye-bye. She does this adorable open hand-shut hand wave!

Peyton's Funny Comments...

One day last week I heard Peyton "fake crying" in his room as his official "quiet time in his room" was about to be over. I walked into his room and asked him why he was crying. He immediately stopped, looked at me and said, "to get attention."

So here's what we've been up to lately...
Sunday, May 11 (Mother's Day) - Mommy gets to "sleep in" - until 7:20! We go to church. After church we head to Jenna's mom's for lunch. Jenna, Mia, and Lennon are in town for a few days. We have a great time, and the kids have fun playing together.
Monday, May 12 - We meet Jenna's mom at a McKinney tea room to pick up Peyton's shoes we left at her house the day before. Mia is wearing a beautiful, fancy white dress and Peyton says she looks like an angel. :)
Tuesday, May 13 - Splash day at Peyton's school. I think this was Peyton's favorite day of the whole year! He loved running through the sprinklers, spraying the water bottles, and "smashing" the water balloons. Will came home with us after school. Like almost every other afternoon, I leave Reagan's bloomers off when putting her in her crib for a nap. She sleeps for a while, and then I hear her playing much earlier than usual. Not thinking anything of it, I let her play for about 20 minutes before she started to get fussy. I open the door to her room and discover what she has been playing in for the last 20 minutes. Apparently, Reagan has learned how to take her diaper off. Peyton says it best, "Reagan got poopoo everywhere!" I immediately dump Reagan in the bathtub and start washing the poopoo off her entire body, including face, ears, and hair. Peyton runs back and forth between her room and the bathroom giving me reports on what Reagan got poopoo on. "Reagan got poopoo on her sheets." "Reagan got poopoo on the bed." "Reagan got poopoo on Taggi." "Reagan got poopoo on her pas-pas-pier." "Reagan got poopoo her bumber." "Reagan got poopoo on the floor." "Reagan got poopoo on her shirt." I ask Peyton to bring me her pacifier so I start washing it off in the bathtub, and Peyton refuses stating, "I don't want to get poopoo on my finger!" (That pacifier ended up in the trash, by the way, so did her sheet." I spent the next half hour scrubbing her bed and bumper. Will, Peyton, and Reagan wisely played quietly in the playroom. We took Will home. Then we came home, and I scrubbed some more. Now, everytime Reagan has a dirty diaper, Peyton comes running into her room to see if she got it everywhere again!
Wednesday, May 14 - We meet Jenna and family at The Wiggly Play Center. Peyton and Mia enjoy playing together, and the babies have a great time in the baby area. That evening is the Cubby Awards Program at Awanas. We got to watch Peyton walk across the stage when his name was called for completing the First Book. After the program, the kids enjoyed cookies in the classroom and were visited by Cubby Bear. When Peyton saw Cubby Bear walk into the room he said, "I need to hug that bear!" And he did!
Thursday, May 15 - Peyton's last day of school. I explain to Peyton that he won't have school anymore until September, and then he'll be in a new classroom with new teachers. I also tell him that some of the mommies and maybe a few kids may be a little sad and tearful because we'll miss our friends and teachers. Peyton says, "I'm not to cry!" It was a very sad last day, but I did make it out without ruining my mascara! Peyton had two very wonderful teachers this year. Ms. Peggi and Ms. Kelley both went above and beyond to make sure Peyton and his classmates had a fun and successful year.
Friday, May 16 - We go to playgroup at a local park.
Saturday, May 17 - Reagan's 10 months old and Peyton has his first sleepover! Thomas and his little brother Andrew came over around lunch time. We took all the kids to Chick-fil-a for lunch. The afternoon included naps and movies. Then we got out Peyton's large blow-up pirate ship pool. The boys splashed and sprayed water for almost 2 hours! After Reagan went to bed, I took Thomas and Peyton to Target to pick out donuts for breakfast. After selecting the perfect breakfast treats, we headed over to the toy department so I could get some ideas for birthday presents (Thomas' birthday is two days after Peyton's). Anything that made noise and goes made the list! All the boys went to bed suprisingly easy. Peyton slept on his top bunk, and Andrew slept on the bottom. Thomas decided to sleep on the floor in the playroom.
Sunday, May 18 - Taking four kids to church definitely requires planning and preparing things ahead of time. We actually did get all four kids to their rooms and made it to our Sunday School class on time! Peyton was disappointed that we had to take his friends home after chruch. More fun was to come that evening, however. Our dinner club was meeting at a neighborhood pool, so Peyton got to go swimming for the first time this year. And Reagan got to go swimming for the first time ever! (She actually just sat and spashed in the 6 inch toddler pool and loved it!)

This week has been a little quieter! Now that preschool is out, Peyton is picking up some more days in his speech class. Peyton's teacher "Ms. V" is an Aggie. A few weeks ago, while I was getting Peyton dressed for class, I asked Peyton what he wanted to wear that day. He said, "My Aggie shirt so Ms. V will say 'Cool Aggie shirt!." As soon as Peyton got on the school bus, I e-mailed his comment to Ms. V. She lovingly and understandinly made a big deal out of Peyton's Aggie shirt. Later, Peyton said, "Mommy and Daddy are Aggies. Ms. V's an Aggie. Peyton's an Aggie. Everybody's an Aggie!" We're trying to teach Peyton to sign the war hymm. He mostly just likes the beginning... he sings "Hello buboo a neck a neck!" It's really cute!

Reagan can now stand on her own for several seconds. She always has to be where the action is. When she realizes she has been left alone in a room, she will crawl all around until she finds us. She follows Peyton around like his little shadow! She has also discovered how to close doors. So far, I've always been close by when she closes a door, so she hasn't gotten trapped yet. She has also figured out how to open the cabinet doors in the office. For now, she is more interested in just opening and banging the doors than what's in the cabinet. I'm sure we're only a few days away from finding one of the cabinets completely emptied out! She is still happy 95% of the time. Even from a poopoo covered bed, she still greeted me with a huge grin!

Peyton is getting very excited about his birthday. We talk about it everyday. We also talk about what Peyton gets to do when he turns 4. He gets to get dressed all by himself (Mommy will still pick out his clothes, though!). We've been practicing and preparing. I was really thinking we had made progress today when he came down the hall in his clothes. Later, I found the underwear he was supposed to be wearing on the bathroom floor!

A day of too much fun

Today we have had "too much fun" (as Peyton says). This morning, we went to Finch Park, otherwise known as the "Splash Park" in downtown McKinney. Peyton loved standing over the sprayers and letting them hit him straight in the face. He had a blast! I don't think his smile left his face the whole time we were there! After we left the splash park, we headed to the "big, big road" (hwy 75). We met Daddy (who had brought us "Chic-a-Day") at the butterfly exhibit at Garden Ridge Pottery in Plano. Peyton and I walked through a large net tent filled with hundreds of butterflies. We used pieces of cantalope to lure the butterflies onto our fingers. Sometimes one would just land on our clothes. It was really neat! Peyton even got to see some cocoons and a couple of butterflies that had just hatched. More pictures from our "Day of too much fun" in Spring 08.

Dinner Conversation

Last night we went out to eat at Dickies BBQ. Here are a few samples of statements that could be overheard from our table to give you an idea of how the meal went....


Peyton: "Mommy don't sit on that booger." (as I look down to see that, sure enough, Peyton had smeared a booger all over the booth bench)

Peyton: "That's a monkey." Mommy: "Where's a monkey." Peyton: "Daddy's a monkey."

Mommy: "Peyton, don't use that napkin. It has a booger on it."

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today was Daddy's birthday! We've had a fun family day! After Daddy's favorite breakfast of wienie biscuits, we spent a lazy morning at home. Daddy opened a few little gifts from the kids. He got a really cool Aggie cup, a bag of Starbucks coffee, a bag of chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels and cards. We had a yummy lunch at Snuffers and ran a few errands. Then it was back home and time for cake, which was by far Peyton's favorite part of the day. Peyton sang "Happy Birthday" as Reagan watched from Daddy's lap. Then Daddy blew out the candles, and we cut into the yummy Baskin Robbins Chocolate & Peanut Butter Ice Cream cake. Even Reagan got to enjoy a few bites before we remembered that infants aren't supposed to have peanut butter! Oooops! Oh well - no harm done! We all took afternoon naps, and then Peyton and Mommy took Daddy's car to the car wash for him and filled it up with gas. Daddy had an evening meeting at church, so Peyton, Reagan, and Mommy hung out at home and had more ice cream cake.
