Natural Bridge Caverns or......

A newly discovered cave under our neighborhood!!!!  These amazing caverns were discovered last month by workers preparing the land for new home construction.  The opening to the cave was fenced off, but that didn't stop several neighborhood boys from poking sticks and eventually cell phone cameras down into the hole to find out what was down there.  When they realized it was a cave, their dads went on a cave exploration with them, and what they discovered was amazing!  It is reported to be at least three stories deep and contains thousands of stalactites and stalagmites. There are a ton more amazing pictures on the Facebook page created by one of the dads - Rock Dove Cave.  Unfortunately, the construction company plated off the entrance before we could check it out for ourselves.  But maybe we'll get to someday - after all this incredible cave is only yards from our house!  As you can guess, this discovery was not good news for the home builder, who can no longer build homes in close vicinity to the cave.  We don't yet know what the future of the cave will be, but it is a pretty exciting discovery for this quiet little neighborhood!

Sock Hop

Our PTA recently hosted a Friday night Sock Hop.  Peyton's teacher's husband was the dj, and Peyton and his friends had a blast dancing with their teacher!

"Boss Me" Cards

Peyton decided that Mommy and Daddy needed some kind of permission system to tell him what to do.  So he developed "Boss Me" cards.  One for Mommy and one for Daddy.  The objective was that we had to give him the card in order to tell him what to do. 

Great Wolf Lodge

We recently had a three day weekend (for President's Day) and we decided to surprise the kids with a trip to Great Wolf Lodge.  On Sunday morning we announced to the kids that we were going on an adventure.  We packed up the car and headed out, following directions from the car's gps.  When we turned North on 35, and Peyton noticed the travel time remaining number on the gps, he pretty quickly figured out that we were going to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  But neither one guessed where we were going until we pulled into the parking lot at Great Wolf Lodge!

We swam at the water park again on Monday morning for a couple of hours before it was time to head home.  It was a quick but very fun trip!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day breakfast table.  Brett and Stephanie gave us the famous 3 pound Lulu's cinnamon roll from here in San Antonio.  We had been talking about going there for a while now, and when Brett surprised us at our door with the very large cinnamon roll Peyton said, "We've always dreamed of going there!"

A couple of weeks before Valentine's Day, Reagan mentioned that "on the next special day" she would like to have fondue again.  Then she said, "I know!  Let's have fondue for Valentine's Day!"  The idea sounded pretty good to the rest of us, so for dinner that evening we had cheese fondue and chocolate fondue for dessert!  

It's Rodeo Time!

It's stock show and rodeo time once again in San Antonio!

Their first rodeo - and they loved it!  Reagan's comment after the rodeo was over: "Mommy, when you sign me up for the rodeo, I want to do the sheep (Mutton Bustin) or the horses but not the bulls."  Peyton's only complaint was that the calf roping seemed too mean.  

Casting Crowns was performed after the rodeo.  They were awesome! 

Getting Ready for Valentine's Day

Bethany's Baby Shower in Atlanta

On Thursday, February 7, Reagan and I traveled to Atlanta for Bethany's baby shower.  We were scheduled to be away from home from Thursday afternoon until Sunday around noon, and it was the longest amount of time we've left the boys home alone!  During dinner on Wednesday evening, (to get his mind off of the fact that Reagan was getting to ride on an airplane and he wasn't!), we talked about all the fun things Peyton and Daddy were going to get to do on their boy's weekend at home.  A few of activities mentioned were: not having to make up beds, eating whatever they wanted, watching movies with the sound WAY up, not having to wear pants.  Peyton pointed out, "It's going to be total chaos!"  

Mommy and Reagan had a wonderful trip!  It was so fun to see Kelsey and Bethany's new house and the new baby room!  During the day on Friday, we ran a few errands and enjoyed a yummy girls lunch with Bethany at La Madeline.  Granmommy and Grandaddy arrived on Friday night to join in on the weekend celebrating!  Reagan is always happy to see Banzai, although I'm not sure the feeling is mutual.  

The shower on Saturday afternoon was so fun, and baby Francis got many cute things!  Reagan entertained herself most of the time by batting around balloons!  She loved every minute of being included in the "girls' weekend" and "girl's party"!

Our trip concluded much to soon!  We were back at the airport early Sunday morning for our flight back to San Antonio.  While in the airport, prior to going through security, I was approached by a man in military fatigues (I assumed to be returning from duty).  He handed me a Kuwaiti bill, and asked me to give it to Reagan, saying that he couldn't exchange it here.  It's a really cool thing for her to have!

After walking off the plane back in San Antonio, Reagan commented that this was, "The best weekend EVER!"

And, just for the record, we did not return to "total chaos" as as result of the boys being home alone.  In fact, it was just the opposite - the house was even cleaner when we returned home than it was when we left! (and it was reports that the pants did stay on the entire weekend!)
